We have far more potential than we believe
When I graduated high school, my Dad gave me an art book and wrote the above lines inside. It took me years to realize how true they are.
I hustled on the corporate ladder for 16 years until I realized I could bet on me — instead of waiting for someone else to do it (we late bloomers get there eventually). I’m still in corporate but on my own path now, and also building a second home online, through writing.
The struggle to discover is worth the wait.
Somewhere in there I also turned into a Mom — with an 11-year-old son — who still manages to get around on a soccer field in the spring and fall. My husband is an accomplished guitar player, and we have two idiot dogs and an outdoor cat who will eat guacamole if you let her.
I’m an only child, and the parent of an only child, and memory and stories mean a lot to me.
And I’m not sure how I got to be 40-something, but now that I’m here I see midlife is just the overlap between who I’ve been, and who I’ll still become.
